| Bob and Kathy Offley came to the islands over 25 years ago and immediately fell in love with Kaua'i. They decided to start a Bed & Breakfast to offer visitors to the island the magical experience of their paradise home. In 1991 they opened one unit and soon found that it was so popular they had to add three more! Now as island innkeepers they have the rare privilege of sharing the Kaua'i they fell in love with with guests from all over the world.
Like true kama'ainas, they've come to know the many secret spots that will make your stay a unique experience. They love to suggest and book day-trips, helicopter tours, luaus, boat tours, places to eat, and many other Kaua'i activities. After a hard day of touring the island, or at your leisure, you are invited to sit down; out on their front porch to "talk story" and enjoy a shaved ice made to your tastes. Yes, they have a Shaved Ice machine. Kathy acquired the machine years ago and they recently restored it back to its original state. It is a hand-cranked model made in Japan years ago, and when your done cranking I swear that the ice is just a little finer and the flavors a little sweeter than the store bought kind. So come enjoy and be their guest, 'pau hana' time (done work or play) will never be more enjoyable than this. In addition to her innkeeping duties, Kathy always finds time to spend time with her tropical flowers. You can be sure that for a few hours every day she'll be busy working with the many exotic varieties of flowers in her three-acre garden. It's a passion that's contagious! Ask Kathy about sending some of the exotic flowers to those who couldn't be with you on the Garden Island. Bob keeps busy adding new "touches" to the Bed & Breakfast units. His many years of experience as a finish carpenter have come in handy in the design and construction of the beautiful woodwork in the rooms. Kakalina's is truly a reflection of Bob and Kathy's love of the island and joy in sharing the hospitality of their Bed & Breakfast.
